Bacteria

Bacteria constitute a big domain of prokaryotic bacteria. Typically a few micrometres in total, bacteria have several shapes, ranging through spheres to fishing rods and spirals. Bacteria were one of the primary life forms appearing on Earth, and are present in the vast majority of its habitats. Most bacteria haven’t been characterized, and only about 50 % of of the phyla associated with bacteria have species that can be grown in the laboratory.
