Industrial ecology is concerned with the switching of industrial process from linear methods, in which reference and capital investments move through the system for being waste, to a closed loop system where wastes can be inputs for brand new processes. Industrial ecology may be the study of stuff and energy streams through industrial methods. It seeks to help quantify the stuff flows and doc the industrial processes that make modern society function.
