Aligned sequences of nucleotide or amino acid residues can be represented as rows just a matrix. Gaps are inserted between residues so which identical or identical characters are aligned in successive tips. A sequence alignment is a way of organizing the sequences regarding DNA, RNA, or protein to recognize regions of similarity that could be a consequence of practical, structural, or evolutionary relationships between sequences.
