Root cause analysis is typically used as a reactive method of identifying event(s) causes, revealing problems and solving them. Root cause analysis is a method of problem solving used for identifying the root factors that cause faults or issues. A factor is known as a root cause if removal thereof from the problem-fault-sequence prevents the final undesirable event via recurring; whereas a causal factor is the one which affects an event’s final result, but is not only a root cause.
