Proteomics Definition

Proteomics is the large-scale study associated with proteins, particularly the structures and functions. Proteins are vital aspects of living organisms, since they are the main aspects of the physiological metabolic path ways of cells. The idea of proteomics was primary coined in 1997 to generate an analogy along with genomics, the study on the genome. The word proteome is a portmanteau of protein and genome.
