An isolated brain is attached to a great artificial perfusion device rather than biological body. An isolated brain is a brain kept in existence in vitro, either by perfusion with a blood substitute, often an oxygenated solution of varied salts, or by submerging as their pharmicudical counterpart in oxygenated man-made cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). A similar concept, attaching as their pharmicudical counterpart or head to the circulatory system of another organism, is known as a head transplant.
