Discipline is a great virtue

Man is a social being. He has to live with others in society. In society, he cannot do whatever he likes. He must obey some rules and regulations. To obey these rules and regulations is called discipline. It helps a man to mold his life according to the prevailing law and order. The fact is that no one can succeed in the hard struggle of life without regularity and orderliness. Discipline is, in this respect, the most vital matter. Discipline is a great virtue. Without discipline, a man appears like a ship a rudder. So, it is necessary that we practice discipline from our childhood. Discipline can lead a man to progress and prosperity.

Nature shows a glaring example of discipline. The earth, the moon, the stars, and all the planets move around the sun the following discipline strictly. If this discipline in nature would be disturbed, the existence of life on earth would be impossible. It has a wide span and spread from the animal world to the astronomical. It blesses him who practices it on all occasions. It is an imperative requirement in one’s life.

Discipline is very necessary for every step of our life. Student life is the best time to build the habit of discipline. A student must attend school punctually and obey the rules of the school. He must carry out the orders of the teachers. Without discipline, the teachers cannot teach and the students cannot learn their lessons. Discipline is a quality that regulates the conduct of man. It makes him useful and good to himself as well as to his community. The disciplined students who go to colleges and then to universities complete their studies successfully. After the completion of their studies, they join some professions and do their jobs to the satisfaction of their seniors. They rise to positions of honor and power, sooner or later.

Discipline is strictly maintained in the army. It is the part and parcel of the army. Difficulty, danger and even death cannot escape a soldier from carrying out the orders of his commander. Discipline is necessary for games and sports. A player has to show respect to the decision of the referee. If the players in the playground do not obey the rules of the games and the orders of the captain, they are sure to lose the game. All the members of a house should obey the rules of the family. A family without discipline is sure to suffer from chaos and unhappiness. A disciplined family leads a happy and healthy life.

Discipline is the root of all virtues of our life. No development of a society, a country and above a nation is possible without discipline. The best discipline starts with our obedience to God Almighty and His orders or directions in the holy books. Expecting to attain success without having discipline in life is like expecting a fairy Godmother to solve all your problems just by moving her wand. A life without discipline is like a ship without a rudder. So all of us should be the performer of discipline from the very beginning of life.
