Cell Membrane

Cell Membrane

The cell membrane is all around the cytoplasm of living cells, physically separating the intracellular components through the extracellular environment. Fungus, bacteria and plants have a cell wall furthermore, which provides a mechanical support on the cell and precludes the passage of larger molecules. The cell membrane also is important in anchoring the cytoskeleton to supply shape to the cell, and in attaching on the extracellular matrix along with other cells to support group cells together in order to create tissues.
