Road accidents have become very common nowadays. As more and people are buying automobiles, the incidences of road accidents are just increasing day by day. It occurs frequently in any part of our country. Everybody finds the news of road accidents in the newspaper. Furthermore, people have also become more careless now. Not many people follow the traffic rules. Road accidents cause a great loss to the people.
Almost every day, we come across the news of some accident on the television, radio, and internet. Most people continue to neglect and ignore the dangers involved in their reckless driving and so, these accidents happen. Several reasons are working behind these road accidents. The drivers of the vehicles often do not care about the traffic rules. They drive according to their own will. The drivers also try to overtake other vehicles. As a result, accidents occur. Sometimes, unfit vehicles are taken to the roads. These unfit vehicles cause road accidents. The roads and highways of our country are not wide enough. Most of them are narrow. This is another reason for causing road accidents. Especially in big cities, there are various modes of transports. Moreover, the roads are becoming narrower and the cities have become more populated.
Road accidents cause server damage. People die a lot. About five thousand people die from road accidents in our country. Poor roadway maintenance also contributes to some of the road accidents. There could be debris in the way of the road which could create problems for the driver and is the responsibility of local highway department, faded road signs and potholes could be another cause for the major road accidents. Road accidents cause a great loss to our economy. They not only destroy the vehicles but also damage many families. The victim’s family has to face irreparable loss. Road accidents take the lives of people mercilessly. The first and foremost cause is driver’s behavior other than the three causes discussed above which constitute only 5% of the causes of road accidents and 95% depends on this one.
People need to be more careful when on the road, no matter which mode of transport you are from. Even the ones on foot are not safe because of the rise in these incidences. Every day people witness accidents in the news, from relatives, and even with their own eyes. That incident made me realize how precious our lives are. In addition, as to how we take it for granted. We must all be very careful when on road, on foot, or by a car that does not matter. We can adopt measures that will prevent road accidents.
Preventive measures should be taken to minimize road accidents. Well, planned traffic rules and signals should be applied. The drivers should be trained. Unlicensed vehicles should be removed. The drivers should be punished for disobeying traffic rules. By implementing these measures, road accidents can be minimized.
Moreover, the government must pass more stringent laws for people who disobey traffic rules. They must find people heavily or take strict action when found guilty of breaking these laws irrespective of gender.
