Reddit to Roll out Personalized End-Of-Year Recaps with Stats about Users’ Habits

Tomorrow, Reddit will roll out a new customised Spotify Wrapped-style recap tool to all users. The new recaps will contain a review of your time on the site, a look at the material you interacted with or produced subjects you engaged with, and groups you watched or joined, among other metrics.

When sharing the summary across other social networking applications, users will be able to hide their username and image, according to Reddit. Previously, the company’s recaps only focused on collected patterns throughout the platform. Reddit has launched a tailored in-product experience this year. From January 1st, 2021 to November 30th, 2021, the customised recaps are based on user browsing and engagement data.

“Expression is important to Reddit’s communities, from replying to a gaming thread in r/nba to submitting a video of a cat wandering over a keyboard while someone is working,” a Reddit representative stated. “Reddit Recap displays each Redditor the communities with which they interacted the most this year, as well as the experiences they shared with others.” Due to Spotify’s annual Wrapped feature, which is extensively shared across social media each year, end-of-year reviews have grown increasingly popular. Given its popularity, it is no wonder that other businesses such as Apple, YouTube, Snapchat, and now Reddit are attempting to copy the popular feature.
