Neurodegeneration

Neurodegeneration is a key aspect of a large number of diseases that come under the umbrella of “neurodegenerative diseases.” It is a combination of two words – “neuro,” referring to nerve cells and “degeneration,” referring to progressive damage. Neurodegeneration can be found in many different levels of neuronal circuitry ranging from molecular to systemic. It describes the gradual deterioration in a person’s cognitive abilities, such as memory.
