The term eco-agriculture was coined by Charles Walters, economist, author, editor, publisher, and founding father of Acres Magazine in 1970 to unify underneath one umbrella the ideas of ecological and economical within the belief that unless agriculture was ecological it couldn’t be economical. This belief became the shibboleth of the magazine to be economical agriculture should be ecological.
