Principle objective of this lecture is to present on Cell Membranes; focus on Osmosis and Diffusion. Basic functions of Cell Membranes are: Protect cell, Control incoming and outgoing substances, Maintain ion concentrations of various substances, Selectively permeable – allows some molecules in, others are kept out etc. Diffusion: Movement of molecules from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Here also briefly present on Blood-Brain Barrier, Living Cells and Test for Chloride ions.
