Bioinformatics is the application of computer technology to the management of biological information. Computers are used to gather, keep, analyze and assimilate biological and genetic information which can then be applied to gene-based drug development and development. Bioinformatics is both equally an umbrella term for the body of biological studies that make use of computer programming in their methodology.
