Banksia epica is really a shrub that grows within the south coast associated with Western Australia. The spreading bush having wedge-shaped serrated leaves and large creamy-yellow rose spikes, it develops to 3½ metre distances (11½ ft) higher. It is identified only from 2 isolated populations inside the remote south east of the state, near the western edge of the Great Australian Bight.
