Advantages of Tree Plantation
Trees are of great use to us. Tree plantation means planting more and more trees. Trees are important elements of the natural environment. Trees give us oxygen without which we cannot live a moment. There are many other uses of trees. But people often destroy trees. Rabindranath Tagore wanted to mean the importance of trees saying – “Give back the forest, take your town.” The need for tree plantation has become even greater these days because of the growing pollution in the environment. The tree helps to keep the environment balanced. It prevents air pollution by taking carbon dioxide. It protects us from natural disasters.
Trees play an important role in our daily life. They are used for different, purposes. In order to live, we need oxygen. Trees give us that oxygen. They give us food and fruits. Fruits are rich in food value and vitamins. The green leaves produce starch- an essential part of the food. Trees also provide shelter to birds and animals that are an important part of our ecology. We get timber from trees and we make our houses, furniture, boats, launches, ships, etc. with it. If trees are planted on the banks of rivers and sea-shores, soil erosion can be prevented. Trees also prevent air pollution. Trees conserve our soil. This soil-conservation is very important for our corn-fields. Trees make own land fertile by their fallen leaves. Without trees, the land becomes a desert. Many kinds of medicines are prepared from leaves, roots, and barks of trees. Trees protect us from the greenhouse effect. Cutting of trees has added much to the environmental degradation.
Some of the top advantages of growing trees include:
- Providing fruits and leaves that serve as food for birds, animals as well as human beings.
- Maintaining biodiversity.
- Providing wood, rubber, and other raw materials.
- Climate Control.
- Preservation of soil.
To preserve our environment, we should plant more and more trees. Tree plantation program should be expanded to the remote corner of the country. The officers connected with this program should take proper steps and needful measures to make it a success. The government should take necessary steps to make the people interested in planting trees. For this reason, the government should make T.V. or radio programs on the subjects of afforestation. There should be such a slogan: If you cut one tree, plant two. It is a matter of joy that the government of our country makes a massive campaign of tree plantation every year.
Trees are part and parcel of our life. The necessity of trees and the importance of tree plantation cannot be ignored in any way. We should plant more and more trees for our own existence. So it is our bounden duty to plant trees and take care of them.
