Suprachiasmatic Nucleus

Suprachiasmatic Nucleus

The suprachiasmatic nucleus interacts with numerous regions of the brain. It contains some cell types and several dissimilar peptides (including vasopressin and vasoactive intestinal peptide) and neurotransmitters. The suprachiasmatic nucleus is a tiny region located in the hypothalamus, situated straight above the optic chiasm. It is responsible for controlling circadian rhythms.
