Interplanetary Magnetic Field

Interplanetary Magnetic Field

This interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) is the solar magnetic field carried through the solar wind one of many planets of the actual Solar System. The plasma in the interplanetary medium is responsible for the potency of the Sun’s magnetic field with the orbit of our planet being over 100 times over originally anticipated. If space were vacuum pressure, then the Sun’s permanent magnetic dipole field, about 10−4 teslas at the surface of the Sun, would reduce with all the inverse cube of the distance to concerning 10−11 teslas.
