The signs of illness have varied and altered along with the virus that causes COVID-19, and doctors think the dominant strain anticipated to cause a case rise this winter is no different.
The most common symptom reported now is a sore throat, which was previously the top symptom of prior strains, along with fever, loss of smell, and a runny nose.
“It appears like the second wave is just getting started, and this time it has struck older folks a little earlier than the previous wave did. According to Professor Tim Spector, co-founder of the COVID ZOE app, “many people are still utilizing the official standards about symptoms, which are incorrect.
Currently, two-thirds of those with a sore throat develop COVID. Since fever and a loss of smell are now quite uncommon, many elderly persons may not realize they have COVID. If tested, they would dismiss it as a cold.
In an effort to slow the oncoming case surge, Professor Spector is now urging the government to amend regulations to reflect recent patterns. According to him, the UK is currently “blind” to the possible problems because to a decline in COVID-19 testing labs, an already ailing NHS, and the government’s Living with COVID programs.
