Conviction politics means the practice of campaigning according to a politician’s own fundamental values or maybe ideas, rather than attempting to represent an existing consensus or take positions which can be popular in polls. There are a variety of arguments for conviction politics. One is it’s more honest — any conviction politician basically says what they believe as an alternative to shading their opinions being more palatable with their audience.
