Commodity Market include physical trading and derivatives trading using spot prices, forwards, futures, and options on futures. It is also a virtual marketplace for buying, selling and trading primary products. There are currently about 50 major commodity markets worldwide that facilitate investment trade in approximately 100 primary commodities. Commodity Market in a crude early form are believed to have originated in Sumer between 4500 BC and 4000 BC. Commodity trading conducted outside the operation of the exchanges is referred to as the over-the-counter (OTC) market.
