Cognitive Impairment refer to inadequacies in global intellectual performance, including mental retardation, or certain deficits in cognitive abilities, such as learning disorders and dyslexia. It is an inclusive term to describe any characteristic that acts as a barrier to the cognition process. It may occur at birth or at any point in a person’s life. Cognitive impairment usually refers to a durable characteristic, as opposed to altered level of consciousness, which may be acute and reversible. It may be congenital or caused by environmental factors such as brain injuries, neurological disorders, or mental illness
