Calorimetry is performed with a calorimeter. The word calorimetry is derived from the Latin expression calor, meaning heat plus the Greek word metron, this means measure. Scottish medical doctor and scientist Frederick Black, who was the initial to recognize the distinction between heat and temperature, is reportedly the founder in the science of calorimetry.
