Spotify Brings Audiobooks to Additional Nations Besides the US

Spotify, a popular music streaming service, has declared that it has increased the number of nations where it offers audiobooks.

According to the company’s blog post, audiobooks are now also accessible in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

When the platform first made the announcement in September, it was solely available in the US.

More than 3,000,000 audiobook titles are available for listening, and customers can download them for offline listening.

The play button for audiobooks displays a lock icon, letting users know they must pay to listen to it.

Users can quickly pick up where they left off by saving their position using the automatic bookmarking option.

“While audiobooks represent just a 6 to 7 per cent share of the wider book market, the category is growing by 20 per cent year over year,”the company said.

The platform was developing a new feature in August of this year that would allow users to post audio comments or reactions to music playlists.

That Spotify experiment was first discovered by a Vietnamese Reddit user.
