Speed of Sound

Speed of Sound

The speed of sound is the distance travelled for unit time by a sound wave propagating with an elastic medium. The SI unit from the speed of sound will be the metre per second. In dried air at 20 °C, this speed of sound is 343.2 metres per next (1,126 ft/s). The speed of sound in an ideal gas can be independent of consistency, but does differ slightly with frequency within a real gas. It can be proportional to the square root of the absolute temperature, but is self-sufficient of pressure or density for a given ideal gas.
