Parasomnia is a category of sleep disorders that engage unusual movements, behaviors, emotions, perceptions, and dreams that happen while falling asleep, sleeping, among sleep stages, or during awakening from sleep. Most parasomnia is dissociated sleep states which are partial arousals during the transitions between wakefulness and NREM sleep, or wakefulness and REM sleep.
