Almost all commonly broken wrist bone which has a fall on an outstretched hand is often a break of a distal radius. The radius is the larger of the two forearm bones along with the end toward the wrist is actually called the distal end. When the area of the radius near the wrist breaks it is measured to be a fracture of the distal radius. Signs of a distal radius fracture are instant pain, bruising, swelling, and tenderness.
