A model organism is a non-human species that is extensively studied to recognise particular biological phenomena, with all the expectation that discoveries made in the organism model will provide insight into the workings of additional organisms. Model organism have been in vivo models and are widely used to analyze human disease as soon as human experimentation can be unfeasible or underhand.
