Legal Psychology is a modern term of psychology. It refers to the study and use of psychology as it applies to the legal system and people who come into contact with the legal system. It is typically take basic social and cognitive principles and apply them to issues in the legal system such as eyewitness memory, jury decision-making, investigations, and interviewing. It is also used to differentiate this field of applied psychology from the more theoretically-based clinical psychology. It also focus to recently come into usage, primarily as a way to differentiate the experimental of legal psychology from the clinically-oriented forensic psychology.
