General objective of this lecture is to discuss on Expansive Soils. Expansive Soils is also called Vertisol Soils or known as Shrink Swell Soils. This Soil contracts due to its clay minerals and the structure of the clay allowing water to be imbedded in-between the clay layers. The process is reversible and causes contraction of the soil. Here briefly explain what can be done at the tome of construction. Here explain some points like: test soil before building, remove soil, keep consistent soil moisture and finally have strong foundations in buildings that can handle the changes in volume.
