Infant industry is the supposition that promising domestic industries need protection against global competition until they become mature in addition to stable. In economics, infant industry is one which is new in addition to in its early stages of development, but not yet capable of competing against proven industry competitors. An infant industry is a new industry, which in its early stages experiences relative difficulty or is perfectly incapable in competitive with established rivals abroad.
