EZ Aquarii – a Triple Star System

EZ Aquarii – a Triple Star System

EZ Aquarii is a Main Sequence Star. It is not part of the Aquarius constellation outline, but it is within the boundaries of the constellation. The EZ Aquarii star’s spectral type (M5V B) determines its color. The star cannot be seen with the naked eye and must be viewed through a telescope. It is 11.11 light-years from Earth.

EZ Aquarii, also known as Gliese 866, is a triple star system with three M-type dwarf stars. Its primary component AC is a spectroscopic binary pair that orbits component B every 823 days. And the A and C components orbit each other in 3.8 days.

EZ Aquarii is a triple star system in the constellation Aquarius located approximately 11.3 light-years (3.5 parsecs) from the Sun. It is also known as Gliese 866 and Luyten 789-6. M-type red dwarfs make up all three components. The spectroscopic binary EZ Aquarii AC has a 3.8-day orbit and a 0.03 AU separation. This pair shares an 823-day period orbit with EZ Aquarii B. The A and B components of Luyten 789-6 emit X-rays when combined.

The location of the main sequence star in the night sky is determined by the Right Ascension (R.A.) and Declination (Dec.), which are equivalent to Longitude and Latitude on Earth. The Right Ascension is the distance a star is along the celestial equator expressed in time (hh:mm:ss). If the R.A. is positive, the direction is east. The Declination of an object is how far north or south it is in relation to the celestial equator, expressed in degrees. EZ Aquarii is located at 22h 38m 33.728 and -15° 17′ 57.33.

The inner binary pair’s configuration may allow a circumbinary planet to orbit close to their habitable zone. EZ Aquarii is approaching the Solar System and will be at its closest point to the Sun in about 32,300 years, at a distance of about 8.2 ly (2.5 pc). According to the ChView simulation, its nearest neighboring star is Lacaille 9352, which is about 4.1 light-years (1.3 parsecs) away from EZ Aquarii.

EZ Aquarii’s color and type are red main sequence stars based on the star’s spectral type of M5V B. It has an estimated radius that is 0.11 times larger than the Sun. The radius of the Sun is 695,800km, so the radius of the star is estimated to be 78,890.46km.

System of three stars, the star EZ Aquarii is 11.1 light-years away from the Sun. It is a three-star system. The apparent magnitude of EZ Aquarii is 12.87, which is a measure of the star’s brightness as seen from Earth. Visual Magnitude is another name for Apparent Magnitude. Using the supplied Parallax value, the absolute magnitude of EZ Aquarii is 15.21.
