Concrete Fracture Analysis

Concrete is strong with compression but fragile in tension. That is, concrete can withstand tremendous amount of compressive loads but it really cannot take much of tensile stresses. Whenever tensile loads are applied, concrete undergoes fracture easily. The reason for this phenomenon can be explained as practices. The aggregates in concrete are prepared for taking compressive stresses making sure that concrete withstands compressive packing.
