Concept of Interview

An interview is a conversation where questions are asked and answers are given. An interview is a face-to-face interaction between interviewer and interviewee. If conducted carefully and properly, it observes and appraises the suitability of the candidate to perform the job successfully. In common parlance, the word “interview” refers to a one-on-one conversation with one person acting in the role of the interviewer and the other in the role of the interviewee. An interview is based on the in-depth conversation which probes the areas of information that cannot be obtained by other steps of a selection process.

So, an interview is formal meetings between two people (the interviewer and the interviewee) where questions are asked by the interviewer to obtain information, qualities, attitudes, wishes etc. Form the interviewee.

An interview is a procedure designed to obtain information through the exchange of ideas and the answering of queries. It attempts to secure the maximum amount of information that cannot be obtained from other methods. it tries to appraise an individual’s educational qualification, training, family background, and other special proficiencies. An interview is an indispensable management tool that helps to certify the accuracy of information provided in the application form and to assess the level of knowledge through direct communication.

The success of interview largely depends on the ability of the interviewer to provide opportunities for the interviewees to show their physical stamina and mental balance while giving the interview. The primary purpose of conducting an interview is to evaluate whether a particular individual can perform the task if hired.
