Climate change is now a major global concern. The worst of all the problems that affect all the flora and fauna of our environment is climate change. Climate change means changes in climate. In fact, the climate on earth is constantly changing. Various factors are responsible for climate change. These are man-made and natural. The natural causes are variations in solar radiation, orbital variations, ocean variability, volcanizing, etc. Human activities are also greatly responsible for climate change. For habitation and agricultural purpose, we are cutting down trees and destroying forests. This affects the climate adversely. Besides, the use of CFCs and various other chemicals in industries causes serious harm to the ozone layer in the atmosphere. As a result, there is a rapid increase in earth’s average temperature causing the greenhouse effect. Climate change has a serious impact on the life and existence of plants, animals, and humans on earth. Human activities can also change the earth’s climate and are presently driving climate change through global warming. There is no general agreement in scientific, media or policy documents as to the precise term to be used to refer to anthropogenically forced change; either “global warming” or “climate change” may be used. Because of climate change, the glaciers are melting and the sea-level is rising. A huge amount of land area on earth is under the threat of being inundated by sea water. This poses a serious threat to Bangladesh. So Bangladesh has to work with the world community to save the earth from the dangerous impacts of climate change.
