Citrus taxonomy means the botanical classification from the species, varieties, cultivars, and somatic hybrid or graft hybrids in the genus Citrus, subgenus Papeda, along with related genera, present in cultivation and in the wild. Cultivated citrus are derived from various forms associated with old citrus species present in the wild. Some are simply selections of the original wild types, while others are usually hybrids between two or more ancestors.
