Carpal tunnel syndrome happens when the middle nerve, which runs from the forearm into the palm of the hand, becomes pushed or squeezed at the wrist. The middle nerve controls feelings to the palm side of the thumb and fingers, as well as impulses to several minute muscles in the hand that permit the fingers and thumb to progress.
