The Bangladesh economy is burdened by major transportation constraints. These lead to lower efficiency, higher transport costs, and more significantly, “transport unreliability”. As railway is a very important mode of inland transport, its healthy growth naturally contributes to the economic development of the country. But BR, at present, has been suffering from various operating bottlenecks. One of the key findings of this study is “the lower the services, the higher the fair” which is hindering the successful operation of railway in the country. At the end, some recommendations have been developed for solving the problem of railway in Bangladesh.
