Annual Report 2011 of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited

It is a broadly described annual report of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited in the year of 2011. In the year 2011, Bank has paid Taka. 1,382.60 million to Government exchequer as source tax, salary tax, VAT, excise duty and other tax & VAT realized against various services. In 2011, total Deposit of the Bank stood at Taka. 83,350 million showing a growth rate of 32.38%, the total amount of Investment of the Bank stood at Taka. 80,592 million with a growth rate of 31.17%. The Capital and reserve of the Bank as on 31^st December 2011 stood at Tk. 9,183 million including paid up capital of Tk. 4,453 million. The Bank’s total assets posted a 36.08% increase in 2011, rising from Tk. 78,800 million to Tk. 107,229 million. Total Turnover of all shares and debentures of the listed securities of Dhaka Stock Exchange, during 2011 stood at Taka. 156055.63 million. The Banks total Operating Profit of Tk. 2,997.89 million which decreased by Tk. 530.82 million over last year i.e. 31.12.2010. Profit before tax stood total Tk. 2,387.39 million and deducting income taxes of Tk. 1,218.95 million, Net profit after taxation stood at Tk. 1,168.44 million. Net profit attributable to shareholders reached to Tk. 1,168 million, return on average equity remained at 13.80 percent and Earnings per Share (EPS) stood at Tk. 2.62.

The Board of Directors of the Bank has recommended the stock dividend @ 25% i.e. to issue 25 bonus shares as against existing 100 shares to its shareholders for the year 2011. These financial statements are presented in Bangladesh Taka (Taka/Tk/BDT) which is the company’s functional currency. All financial information presented in Taka has been rounded off to the nearest Taka.
