A Visit to an Export Fair

An International Trade Fair is a large-scale exhibition of the products of arts, crafts, agriculture, and industry. In this fair, the host country invites friendly countries to install stalls to display their exportable goods to the people. It is one kind of publicity of drawing the attention of the national and international industrialists and producers. It helps a country attract foreign buyers and to earn foreign exchange. It strengthens the economic tie between the host country and other participating countries. A trade fair plays an important role in the field of making out homemade exportable goods known to other counters. It helps in earning foreign exchange too. Last year I had an opportunity to visit an International Trade fair.

The fair was organized jointly by the Export Promotion Bureau and the Ministry of Commerce at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. It continued from 1st December to 31st, December 20xx. We entered the fair at 5 pm. Going to the entrance gate of the fair, I found an attractive signboard bearing the name of the fair. When we entered the main fair, it seemed to me that I came to a different world, I was very amazed to see this large fair.

In the fair, many countries such as India, China, Japan, East Germany, Malaysia, and Korea participated. Hundreds of stalls were set up in rows under the banners of different countries. They displayed models of their exportable products and tried to attract interested importers from different countries including Bangladesh. They displayed their goods in an attractive manner to draw the attention of the customers. We visited different stalls. The stalls for ready-made garments attracted us so much. Works of arts, crafts, handicrafts, agriculture, industry, and many other things were placed at different corners of the fair. Our visit to the stalls of ceramic industries, plastic industries, melamine industries was also interesting. We bought some products.

Many exportable food items by various companies in our country were displayed. Among the food items, jam, jelly and different kinds of pickles attracted the notice of the buyers. Among the agricultural and manufactured products, carpets, mats, bags, Rajshahi Silk, Dhakai muslin, leather goods, tea, processed foods, etc attracted foreign buyers very much.

We also visited the stalls of various countries like India, Malaysia, Korea, China, Germany, Japan, etc. and were charmed to see the quality of their products. I bought a camera from a Japanese stall at a very reasonable price.

There was discipline everywhere in the fair. Armed forces were deployed to ensure the security of the traders as well as the customers. Some volunteers were also engaged to provide help or support to the visitors.

We got to experience and were able to compare our products with the products of other countries in Asia like China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Korea. We realized that the products of our country are not inferior to the products of those countries in regards to price and quality. If we try to improve the quality of our products, we will surely be able to improve our products and compete with the products of many other countries. A country can be able to know about other countries through trade fair.

A trade fair plays a very important role in the field of making our homemade exportable goods to know to other countries. If such a fair is arranged every year, our industrialists and manufacturers will be encouraged to improve the quality of their products. Such an arrangement will be helpful for earning more foreign currencies and thereby developing our economy as a whole. At 10 pm I along with other friends returned home.
