When word spread late last year that the original Metal Gear Solid was being remade with an announcement coming “soon,” stealth enthusiasts were ecstatic. Many people started to speculate that the MGS remake may appear at The Game Awards, which, regrettably, didn’t materialize, even though the rumor said that “soon” may be weeks or months away. Despite this, the rumor may still be alive.
An announcement is still forthcoming, claims Spanish gaming website Areajugones, which was the genesis of the initial Metal Gear Solid remake rumors and has previously accurately disclosed a number of PlayStation-related information. According to Areajugones’ source, the MGS announcement will occur before May 2023, with a late-winter announcement in February or March being the most probable.
The announcement for the [Metal Gear Solid remake] would be made in the future and not necessarily during The Game Awards, according to the same source who originally provided us with this information. The introduction of the Metal Gear Solid remake should occur before May 2023, [and] it [sounds] quite promising [for] the early months of the year, particularly February and March.”
There have been several speculations about Hideo Kojima’s stealth series for a time, one of which is that Metal Gear Solid 3 will also be remade. Take this information with a grain of salt for the time being because it’s unclear whether or how these rumors are accurate. However, keep in mind that there were a lot of seemingly incongruous Silent Hill rumors floating around for years prior to Konami’s announcement that the series would be getting a ton of new games. The fact that things are unclear doesn’t always imply that the allegations are unfounded because Konami operates in odd ways.
It should be noted that there are rumors that Sony will shortly reveal some significant new third-party PlayStation content. It’s possible that one of these Sony announcements will be the Metal Gear Solid remake as it’s rumored to be a PS5 exclusive. Crossing fingers.
