First published in January 1845, the poem is often noted for its musicality, stylized language, and supernatural atmosphere. Here briefly focus on why does Edgar Allan Poe use a raven instead of another bird as the major symbol of this poem. Poe wrote the poem as a narrative, without intentionally creating an allegory or falling into didacticism.
