The Speech On United Nations Public Service Day

A very Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening to Honorable Sir/Madam, respected seniors, and my dear friends, Warm Greetings to Everyone!

Thank you all for taking out time and being present at this seminar session. Today, we are here to celebrate the most important day, ‘United Nations Public Service Day’. The United Nations Public Service Day honors the importance and strength of public service to the world every year on June 23rd. Also, the prestigious UN Public Service Awards are given on this day.

Ladies and gentlemen, the United Nations Public Service Day was originally designated by Resolution A / RES/57/277 of 2003 of the United Nations General Assembly to “celebrate the importance and virtue of public service to the community.” The Day of the United Nations Public Service honors the importance and virtue of public service to the community; emphasizes public service’s commitment to the growth process; acknowledges the work of public servants; and inspires young people to seek careers in the public sector.

We all recognize that public service is characterized as a service intended for all community members. There are several public sector fields.

  • The public sector
  • Public safety
  • Education
  • Government and diplomacy
  • Nonprofit administration

The United Nations developed the UN Public Service Awards (UNPSA) program in 2003, which was updated in 2016 to comply with the 2030 Plan for Sustainable Development, in order to affirm the recognition of the day and the significance of public service. It rewards the innovative accomplishments and achievements of worldwide public service organizations. The position, professionalism, and visibility of public service are promoted by this case. At the same time, to coincide with United Nations Public Service Day, Africa Public Service Day is observed in Africa.

For a number of purposes, people chose to work or participate in public service. Some do so because they want the public to profit from it. The United Nations Public Service Day also marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on Labor Relations (Public Service), 1978 (No. 151), by the International Labor Organization. This Convention is a forum for all civil servants around the world to decide their working conditions.

This day is observed by many public service organizations and agencies around the world by hosting different activities to highlight the important role that public servants play in making social changes. Activities include: awareness days featuring public service stalls and booths; organized lunches with guest speakers; internal recognition ceremonies within public service divisions or agencies; and special public service honor announcements.

Hope you all have a great time.

Thank you all.
