The actual sociology of family examines the household as an institution and a unit of socialization. This particular unit of socialization is identified through various sociological perspectives; particularly according to the relationship between this nuclear family and industrial capitalism, along with the different gender tasks and concepts regarding childhood which arose by it. Research methods inside sociology of the household can be divided to three main approaches, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.
