A radio atmospheric sign or sferic is a broadband electromagnetic behavioral instinct that occurs caused by natural atmospheric lightning discharges. Sferics may propagate from other lightning source without having major attenuation in the Earth-Ionosphere wave-guide, and can be received thousands of kilometers from their source. On any time-domain plot, a sferic may seem as a individual high-amplitude spike in the time-domain data.
