Within economics and advertising, product differentiation could be the process of distinguishing a product or service from others, to generate it more appealing to a particular marketplace. This involves distinguishing it from competitors’ products and a firm’s own items. The concept seemed to be proposed by Ed Chamberlin in their 1933 Theory of Monopolistic Competition.
