Perceptual Learning involves relatively long-lasting changes to an organism’s perceptual system that improve its ability to respond to its environment and are caused by this environment. It is a process, by which the ability of sensory systems to respond to stimuli is improved through experience. Perceptual Learning occurs through sensory interaction with the environment as well as through practice in performing specific sensory tasks. It forms important foundations of complex cognitive processes and interacts with other kinds of learning to produce perceptual expertise.
