Numerical control (NC) is the automation of machine tools which are operated by precisely programmed commands encoded on the storage medium, instead of controlled manually manually wheels or levers, as well as mechanically automated by means of cams alone. Almost all NC today is actually computer (or computerized) numerical control (CNC), in which computers play an inclusive element of the control.
