Cells divide and reproduce in two ways, mitosis and meiosis. Mitosis results in two identical daughter cells, whereas meiosis results in four sex cells. Major objective of this lecture is to present on Mitosis and Meiosis, differentiate between them. Mitosis: division of somatic (body) cells. Meiosis: division of gametes (sex cells). Mitosis involves one cell division and results in two daughter cells. Meiosis involves two successive cell divisions and results in four daughter cells.
