Conflict is a process that begins when one party perceives that another party has negatively affected, or is about to negatively affect, something that the first party cares about. Conflicts occur when people perceive that, as a consequence of a disagreement, there is a threat to their needs, interests or concerns. Conflicts are normal experiences within the work environment. They are also, to a large degree, predictable and respectable situations that naturally arise as we go about managing complex and stressful projects in which we are significantly invested.
